HOW TO USE A DERMA ROLLER

Hi There,

Doctor Lisa Wells here, my clients are always interested in products, nutrients and various methods to enhance their health and appearance. Recently I have been investigating the advantages of using a low cost Derma Roller to micro needle the skin surface to stimulate deeper skin collagen production to improve a more youthful skin appearance.

Micro needling is using a rolling Derma Roller with hundreds of little needles across your face, lips and other areas of the skin to stimulate collagen growth. The micro needles, when gently pressed against your skin with even pressure, will create tiny punctures. This stimulates and activates your self-healing mechanisms to rejuvenates the roller-ed skin. Micro needling sounds very uncomfortable, but I guarantee it is not. It has been shown to diminish skin problems like wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars and shrinking lips.

Injection fillers, cosmetic surgery, lasers and other treatments can cost thousands of dollars, a Derma Roller on the other hand runs less than 30 bucks and can be used for a long time before needling roller needs to be replaced. With a simple Amazon search you can easily pick one up or you can get one from my website.

The length and number of your Derma roller needles is also very important. Derma Rollers can have anywhere from 180 to 1000 micro needles. One of the most common sizes is the 540 needle roller, however it’s the length of the needles that really matter the most. Derma Roller needles can range in size from .25 to 3.00 mm in length, but you need at least a .50 mm needle to create the depth of punctures that will actually stimulate collagen growth. If you’re rolling your lips or other areas of your face, it’s safest to stick with a .50 to .75 mm Derma Roller. But if you’re working on tougher, thicker skin, say on your thighs for stretch marks, you need at least a 1.00 mm roller needle length.

Derma Rolling doesn’t require a lot of time. As a rule run the Derma Roller about 10 times over the area you’re wanting to treat. The treatment should take no more than a few minutes. The size of your needles can also affect how often you Derma roll the same area – here’s a quick reference.

Dermarolling treatments frequency based on dermaroller needle size

0.2-0.25 mm dermaroller may be used daily or every other day. This size improves the absorption of applied skin care products.

0.5 mm dermaroller may be used once every 3 weeks.

0.75 mm dermaroller may be used once every 4 weeks.

1.0 mm dermaroller may be used once a month (every 5-6 weeks).,

1.5 mm dermaroller may be used once every 6 weeks.

2.0-2.5 mm dermaroller may be used once every 8 weeks.

0.2 -0.25 mm Derma Rollers for Daily Use

You may use the 0.2 and 0.25 mm needle lengths daily for better skin care products absorption. These short needles will not promote new collagen building, but will help you benefit more from your skin care by helping them to absorb better.

0.5 – 2.5 mm Derma Rollers for Triggering Collagen Production

Do you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, acne scars or any other similar concern treated by skin needling? Then you probably use a derma roller with needles at least 0.5 mm or even longer. Longer needle size derma rollers help to stimulate the new collagen building and skin renewal process.

As the collagen synthesis in your skin is entirely natural process, it takes time to occur like explained earlier. Do not disturb it by using the derma roller too often, be patient and use derma roller about once every 4-6 weeks. You won’t see immediate results, as it can take about a month to see a change in skin or volume, but then the upkeep is much easier. I prefer this method for long-term fuller lips.
